Nine AHSS students and one teacher supervisor, Somaya Hosamieh (HS Chemistry), traveled to England in August to participate in an English language course for international students. Following is student Maryam Kabatilo’s account of the trip:
It was a dream come true for each of us. We were lucky to have this opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful cities in the world and to visit Cambridge University, Trinity College, Queens College, and St. John’s College. We stayed in Colchester, a city in Essex, on the campus of the University of Essex. There we experienced the student life to the fullest, taking English classes three times a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We were welcomed kindly, had very good teachers who taught us in a variety of different ways. We were able to use the university’s facilities like the football pitch and sports arena. We met people from many nationalities. We were received on arrival to the UK by Mr. Salah who took care of us as if we were one family.
We shared beautiful moments with him during our trips outside the university to London and during activities on campus when we returned. He was our big brother really.
Ms. Arlett also took care of us during the whole trip, providing us with kind treatment. A big “Thank you” to Miss Somaya Hosamieh for being there with us along the entire trip and for picking us to join her. She worked very hard to make this trip an unforgettable memory, planning our schedule to our utmost satisfaction, caring for us until we arrived home. She treated us with pure kindness and generosity.
