AHSS is currently accredited by Cognia, formerly known as AdvancED. The school was first accredited by the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) in 2003. CITA was acquired by AdvancED in 2008. The school was re-accredited in 2009 and 2014 by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), a division of AdvancED. In 2019 the school’s accreditation was renewed by Cognia (formerly AdvancED). Cognia was formed by the merger of AdvancED and Measured Progress in 2018. With accreditation, the Abdul Hamid Sharaf School diploma is internationally recognized.
The school has been licensed in Jordan since it opened in 1980 and received a permanent license from the Ministry of Education in 2003. The American stream uses American textbooks and curriculum. Cambridge and Pearson syllabi are used in the British stream. The graduates of the American and British system high school programs at AHSS are able to obtain equivalency of their school diploma with Tawjihi (the national high school certificate), from the Jordanian Ministry of Education. The Tawjihi equivalency certificate is required for students who plan to continue their college/university education and possibly, employment in Jordan.
