AHSS wrapped up our clothing and food drive last month. Our school community donated hundreds of bags of clothing and food to help less fortunate people in Jordan. The donations will be given to families in the “Gaza Camp” near the city of Jerash.
Over the next couple of weeks, students will help staff members organize the food and the clothing. Food will be put into packages to give to families in the camp and the clothes will be organized by gender and age to get to people who need warm clothes this winter.
“It’s better to let them work with us to feel,” said Ms. Reem Qadah, one of the organizers of the drive, about the students helping organize the donations. “So if they don’t go with us [to the camp] at least they did something useful, and they feel they did something good for the sake of the poor ones.”
Ms. Reem, Ms. Eman Hassan, and Ms. Reema AlRamahi organized the donation drive. Thanks to the generosity of our school community, the effort was a great success. Ms. Reema will coordinate with the “Gaza Camp” to deliver the donations with a group of students and staff in the coming weeks.
“Thank you for helping with the less fortunate people,” Ms. Reema said about the people who donated. “I want to thank Ms. Reem and Ms. Eman for coming up with this idea.”
Thank you to everyone who donated and supported the effort in our school community. Not only will the donations go to people in need, but the students will get opportunities to feel the joy of charitable work in the coming weeks.
“We want the students to see another side of Jordan and to feel with other people. Let the students appreciate what they have and feel with the other people who don’t have as much,” Ms. Eman said.
