AHSS Offers New AP, IGCSE Courses

Ms. Raghad leading a biology lab last school year. Ms. Raghad will be teaching A.P. Biology this year.

AHSS is pleased to offer six new courses this year in both the IGCSE and AP programs for the 2025/2026 School Year.
There are three new IGCSE courses for students starting in ninth grade. They are accounting, history, and Spanish – Foreign Language.
“I was so happy to learn that I am going to be teaching accounting,” said Ms. Nadia, who will be teaching the IGCSE accounting class. “Accounting inspires me because I have students turn numbers into knowledge and knowledge into opportunity. It also gives them the confidence to understand and shape their future.”
Ms. Amy will be teaching IGCSE History, a course that focuses on major international issues of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and covers the history of particular regions and events in more depth.
Ms. Suzanne, one of our new teachers, will be teaching IGCSE Spanish Language. The course aims to develop an ability to use the language effectively for practical communication.
There will also be three new AP sections offered this school year. In addition to 12th graders being able to take AP Calculus, Ms. Reema will also be teaching AP Pre Calculus to 11th graders who are interested as well.
“Precalculus is a college-level course prepares students for higher level math and emphasizes on problem-solving, reasoning and using mathematical ideas on real-life situations,” Ms. Reema said. “This course uses different types of functions from different perspectives, including their graphical, symbolic and numerical properties. This course will be very useful for our students to be fully prepared for their university courses.”
AHSS is also adding a section of AP English Literature and Composition for 11th graders. Last year the course was just available for 12th graders. Finally, our school will also now offer AP Biology for the first time.
“I’m excited to teach AP Biology,” said Ms. Raghad, who will be teaching the course. “It’s a challenging course, but also one of the most fascinating. There’s always something new to discover about how life works. Students get to experience college-level science, build strong critical thinking skills, and even earn college credit. It’s great preparation for the future.”
AHSS is excited about adding depth and options for student in both our American and British Academic Systems. If you have any questions about the courses you can speak with the teachers offering the courses or our administration.
