Ms. Sue Writing Competition Grows in Second Year

Abdul Hamid Sharaf School held the second annual Ms. Sue Memorial Writing Competition from September 23rd to the 25th. In total, there were 337 entries from grades 5 to 12. 210 of the entries were in the English competition and 127 were in the Arabic competition.
Winners will be announced for four age ranges: 5th and 6th grades, 7th and 8th grades, 9th and 10th grades and 11th and 12th grades. Both the Arabic and English sides of the competition will be judged according to those age ranges.
Each entry will be read by three English or Arabic teachers at AHSS. The scores from each independent judge will be averaged with the others who read the paper to determine the winners. The entries will be judged blind, meaning that no names on the essays have been given to the judges.
The awards ceremony and prizes for the winners are still to be announced. Stay tuned to the school’s social media, website, and announcement board for updates on the awards.
AHSS is proud to host the writing contest in memory of our co-founder and director Ms. Sue. Ms. Sue loved reading and writing and loved encouraging students to enrich their lives with language skills. We are proud of our students who participated in the contest. Thank you as well to all of the staff who helped organize and oversee this year’s writing contest!
